The whole community must have the opportunity to participate in the actual decision-making at city hall beyond attending an occasional open house and listening to city staff tell them what is planned. In the 21st century, for local, municipal politics to work for all of us in Stratford, local politics must include all of us. Half of the voters stayed home or did not vote. In the past five elections in Stratford, not one member of city council was elected by a majority of the voters. What skills do you possess that will be an asset to Stratford? I bring a recognition that our 19th-century representative democracy is not representative at all. That will be the foundation of everything I do as a city councillor. Why are you running? City hall and city council must be accountable and trusted, open and transparent, and truly engaged with the people of this wonderful, small city.
